Introduction: Sexual and reproductive health related discussion has remained a major social, cultural and health concern in the global context. This concern has gained credible attention in developed countries, which help in the management of child spacing issue among the people. However, in the developing countries like Nigeria, the sexual and reproductive right of adolescent and young adult has not received given adequate attention especially in the core northern Nigeria. Our study analyzed the uptake of family planning service uptake among adolescent and young adults in conflict affected Zamfara state.
Method: This study used family planning service statistics for June to August from 2019 to 2022.extracted from Marie Stopes Database. The sample included 38,617 girls and women within the expanded reproductive age (12-49) that received child spacing services from Marie stopes supported facilities.
Result: A total of 38,617 received FP services of which 45% were aged between 15 and 24. More than a two third (70%) of the young adults accepted contraceptive implants as their method of choice.
Conclusion: Child spacing uptake among adolescents and young adults is relatively low. Demand creation effort may target 15-24years with age-appropriate messaging for child spacing services and the rights to quality SRH services within the empowerment and self-care framework. The significant others involved in the decision-making process for child spacing including men should be targeted with norm change interventions
