Abstract Summary

Background: Despite growing numbers of leaders steering the opium of people, adolescent pregnancy has become a global issue plaguing the world over. An estimated 21 million girls aged 15–19 years in developing regions become pregnant, and approximately 12 million of them give birth. Happening to the never recorded 19 million births is the need for an increase in SRHR awareness. Clerics on different forums have shown none or little (abstinence only) when it comes to adolescent SRHR. It is a little wonder why there is a reduction in the number of adolescent pregnancies in two LG of Taraba state where clerics allow complete SRHR awareness that reaches adolescents which results in high adolescent FP uptake.

Objective: Religious leader involvement in awareness of adolescents' SRHR message beyond abstinence.

Method: A question guide was used in interviews with 16 religious' leaders of two different faiths in two local government areas of Taraba state. Content analysis was used to conduct the analyses

Result: Religious leader commitment to complete adolescent SRHR in their community, adolescent knowledge of SRHR increase, adolescent makes inform decision on SRH choice.

Conclusion: Religious leader with necessary skills and understanding of adolescent vibes on exposure experience will not only discuss abstinence as the only choice of sexual reproductive health right available for adolescent but will also allow adolescent to be sensitized on everything they need to know on SRH and allow them their choice.
